New Test for Your Vote: Wal-Mart’s Radical UK Homepage Revamp

Be careful when you place your vote on this week’s test! The test was focused on layout, not content. So, you’re picking which Walmart UK (aka Asda.uk) homepage wireframe gets the best results, and ignoring the samples’ differing copy and offers. Go to: http://whichtestwon.com/archives/2993

I am extraordinarily pleased to bring you this case study because homepage tests — especially those that try radical navigation bar changes — can be incredibly difficult, mainly due to office politics.

As I surf the Web, I’m continually struck by how many sites settle for “me-too” homepage layouts. Formally accepted best practices in homepage layout haven’t changed since about 2003. An eon ago. Isn’t it time we start to test and challenge our old assumptions?

Really looking forward to your comments about this test and homepage tests in general. The link again: http://whichtestwon.com/archives/2993

P.S. Thanks to everyone who spread the word about us recently, especially Will Scully-Power, The Cynical Marketer blog, CopyClips blog, David Wang, Carey Gatz, Entrepreneurs’ Organization Boston, Terje Gaupseth, and Landing Page Tips.
