Version A increased sign ups 45%, increased average order value 2.8%, and decreased the page’s exit rate 10.3% when compared to Version B.

Although Grasshopper didn’t measure video buttons as a specific factor, we were impressed enough with what they did measure to give this test an Honorable Mention in our 2009 Testing Awards in the Video Testing category.

Grasshopper conducted the test inhouse as part of an ongoing series using Adobe Test&Target (see tech profile) technology. Four versions of the page were tested.

The CTA on version A is “See All Features” vs version B that says “Get My Advanced Number” …those are pretty different.

“See All Features” feels less compromising and, personally, promises more information. Version B, on the other hand, seems like the end of the road i.e. the next step is the sign up. Surely that influenced it.

“Money Back Guarantee” alone is a huge, huge deal, and could easily account for the entire difference.
